ECOLOGIC EVENTS OF CITY

EVENTS /ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY DEPARTMENT OF TRAFFIC, UTILITY, LEGAL PROPERTY AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

CAR FREE DAY 22 SEPTEMBER
From 16 - 22 September, in cities across Europe is marked the " European Mobility Week" which ends on September 22nd. Every year the City of Prijedor joins to marking the final event of the Car Free Day on Sept. 22 when one or several zones for cars are closed in the downtown, i.e. there is made a separate zone only for pedestrians, bicyclists and similar.
The Event is aimed at promotion of sustainable forms of transportation ( public traffic, bicycles, walking) and supporting European cities to invest into necessary infrastructure: building a bike network and facilities, public bikes system, pedestrian zones, advancing public transportation network, mobile transportation charge and similar.

DAYS OF SANA RIVER
The Event "Days of Sana River" is a traditional event taking place on the World Environment Day ( 5-6 June) in all seven cities that Sana river runs through. The aim of the event is to preserve and protect Sana river and its tributaries, raise an awareness of importance of keeping the environment.
The Event lasts two days, i.e. it starts in Mrkonjić Grad- Ribnik where water is taken at the spring of the Sana river, than ecologic cup with spring water symbolically goes through all municipalities of the Sana basin (Mrkonjić Grad, Ribnik, Ključ, Sanski Most, Oštra Luka, Prijedor and Novi Grad), i.e. spring water is ran out in Novi Grad at Sana river mouth. Every year one of the municipalities prepares a central event with appropriate cultural artistic and ecologic program.

SPRING ARRANGEMENT OF CITY
Over the last 15 years the City of Prijedor in the month of April has been conducting the action "Spring Arrangement of City", except regular activities of the joint municipal expenditures in the city area. The aim of this action is to have the beautiful image of the city and preserve and improve the environment. Actions start on April 1st and last by the end of April including cleaning the city, i.e. arrangement of green surfaces around business facilities, housing objects, streets, pavements, banks of the Sana river and other unarranged surfaces in the City area.
Within this action the City of Prijedor organizes free waster material disposal by schedule of Public Utility Company. The City also provides a certain number of nurseries, decorative bushes, benches and garbage bins to arrange schools and local communities.

ARRANGE YOUR GARDEN
Every June the City Administration Prijedor organizes an action "Arrange your garden". Part of this action is the selection of the most beautiful garden and balcony, the most arranged school yard, the most arranged space of condominium owners committee and space in front of a business facility. The aim of the action is, except to raising awareness of the importance of healthy and neat environment, to promote the cleaner and more beautiful city. The most diligent citizens in this actions are awarded and serve as a role model to others how to take care of their courtyard, balcony, i.e. their living space. This is the way of motivating all citizens of Prijedor as well as condominium owners committee, owners of business facilities but schools as well to get involved into this action as much as they can to contribute to the more beautiful look of the City of Prijedor.
